Metal intrigues me as I start a new piece. Steel just flat, dark, heavy (if it's in a large piece) and isn't a soft inviting material. Starting out is the usual set up of torches for cutting, forming and welding. I don't work with a plasma cutter because the jagged edges that drip and get funky from cutting with an oxyacetylene torch are what I like. For "Sprouting Out" my thoughts were to pull this metal out of the flat ground with movement and not much height. Moment by moment I used my cut pieces, tweaked them, welded them and at the end added my 3D elements.
