Something Old, 25″ (63.5 cm) height x 21″ (53.34 cm) length x 14″ (35.56 cm) depth. Materials used—16 gauge steel, 20 gauge steel, copper, digital image transfers on aluminum, copper and steel, copper mesh, assorted wires.
This sculpture took several days of shaping, heating, welding and pounding to achieve the configuration. In the process some of the ideas generated in the beginning were out of sync with where the steel ended up. Pennies from an ancient collection, that were my grandmothers, allowed me to bring “something old” into my elements. The areas that have inspired this series are indeed ancient and full of old elements in proximity with the trees.
