Materials- 14 gauge steel, assorted wire, digital prints on folded copper.
Each time I start a piece for my “They Remain” body of work honoring the Granite Mountain Interagency Hot Shot Crew, a piece of 14 gauge steel awaits me. My Oxyacetylene torch is used for cutting and then shaping. The piece evolves as the steel starts to make shapes in front of me. Each cutting of the torch is decided in the moment and in the end all the pieces cut will form the final work. 3D elements and varnish are added after any patina and surface design work.
This 24 gauge copper wire was crocheted with no plan and once on the sculpture stitches were added for detail and texture
